Employer information

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers about hiring sponsorship-seeking healthcare staff through emplora.

What does emplora do?

emplora connects Australian employers with pre-screened candidates seeking long-term employment and an appropriate employer-sponsored visa pathway. Employers remain in control of interviewing, selection and hiring.

Does emplora interview candidates before referring them to employers?

Yes. emplora conducts an initial screening and interview to assess candidates’ relevant experience, qualifications, communication skills, employment preferences and suitability against the employer’s requirements. This helps employers focus on candidates who appear to match their vacancies. Employers remain responsible for their own interviews, checks and final hiring decisions.

What information does emplora collect from candidates?

emplora collects information relevant to recruitment, which may include a CV and employment history; qualifications and professional registrations (including AHPRA where applicable); current visa status, work rights and sponsorship needs; relevant skills and experience; current location, relocation preferences and availability; initial screening notes; and supporting certificates or clearances where available. Candidate profiles and, where provided, video introductions may be shared with prospective employers through a secure referral portal, subject to appropriate candidate consent and privacy safeguards. Employers should independently verify documents and work rights before hiring.

Does emplora charge recruitment or placement fees?

No. emplora charges employers $0 recruitment and placement fees for candidate introductions. Government visa charges, sponsorship levies and any professional migration advice or application costs are separate.

Are candidates already in Australia?

Yes. Our primary focus is candidates who are already in Australia and are seeking employers willing to consider sponsorship.

We also source candidates from overseas where appropriate. Depending on their visa eligibility, processing times and availability, some overseas candidates could start working with you in as little as one month.

Start dates are assessed individually and depend on visa approval, work rights and employer onboarding requirements. A one-month start is possible in some cases, but cannot be guaranteed.

Which industries do you support?

We work nationally with aged care, disability support, hospitals, nursing, allied health and other healthcare employers.

What roles can you help fill?

Depending on current candidate availability and visa eligibility, roles may include registered nurses, enrolled nurses, aged care workers, disability support workers, assistants in nursing and other healthcare staff.

Can we interview candidates before making a decision?

Yes. Your team reviews suitable candidates, conducts interviews and makes its own hiring decisions. There is no obligation to employ anyone.

Can we employ candidates on a probationary period before committing to sponsorship?

Yes. Where a candidate already has valid work rights for the role, you can generally employ them under your usual employment arrangements, including a lawful probationary period, before deciding whether to proceed with sponsorship. Many employers use this time to assess suitability and performance. Probation does not extend a visa or its work rights, and sponsorship timing must be planned around the candidate’s visa expiry and any applicable conditions. Employment must comply with relevant awards, the Fair Work Act and visa requirements.

How quickly can candidates start working?

Some candidates may be available to start as soon as interviews, reference checks and onboarding are complete, provided their current visa permits the work. Others may need to give notice, obtain registration or clearances, or wait for appropriate visa permission. emplora will confirm each candidate’s availability and current work rights so you can plan a realistic start date. Sponsorship approval is not always required before starting work, but existing work rights must be verified first.

Can candidates start working before sponsorship is approved?

Only if they already hold a visa with work rights that permit the proposed employment. Work rights and visa conditions must be checked for each candidate; lodging a sponsorship application does not automatically authorise work.

Which visa pathways are relevant?

Depending on the employer, role and candidate, options may include the Skills in Demand subclass 482 visa, subclass 407 training visa, DAMA or Labour Agreement arrangements. Eligibility varies and is subject to current immigration rules.

Does our organisation need to be an approved sponsor?

For many employer-sponsored pathways, relevant sponsorship or labour agreement approvals are required. If you are not yet approved, emplora can discuss the process and connect you with an appropriately authorised migration professional.

Does emplora handle visa applications or provide immigration advice?

emplora focuses on workforce sourcing and candidate introductions. Visa eligibility, applications and immigration advice should be handled by an appropriately registered migration agent or Australian legal practitioner.

How long does recruitment and sponsorship take?

Candidate introduction timing depends on your vacancies and candidate availability. Sponsorship and visa processing times vary by pathway and government workload, so no approval timeframe can be guaranteed.

How do we get started?

Send us your organisation name, hiring locations and roles required using the employer enquiry form, or call 1300 020 112 or email mark@emplora.com.au.

Do we need to change our existing recruitment process?

No. Your organisation continues to advertise, interview, select and employ staff as it does today. emplora provides an additional source of pre-screened candidates who are looking for an appropriate sponsorship pathway.

Is there any obligation to hire a candidate?

No. You decide which candidates to interview and whether to offer employment. There is no obligation to proceed with a candidate introduced by emplora.

What checks does emplora complete before referring candidates?

We pre-screen candidates for relevant experience, qualifications, registration where applicable, location, availability and their reported visa status. Employers should complete their own reference checks, right-to-work verification, registration checks and any required screening before employment.

Can you help us recruit across multiple locations?

Yes. emplora works with employers across Australia, including metropolitan, regional and remote locations. Availability will depend on candidate preferences, relocation plans and the requirements of each role.

Can candidates relocate to regional areas?

Some candidates are open to relocating for the right long-term opportunity. We discuss location preferences during screening and identify candidates who may be suitable for regional vacancies.

Do you provide access to candidates for hospitals as well as aged care and disability?

Yes. We support recruitment needs across private and public healthcare settings, including hospitals, aged care, disability support and allied health. Candidate availability varies by profession and location.

What does the employer pay if recruitment is free?

emplora does not charge employers recruitment or placement fees for candidate introductions. Employers may still be responsible for normal employment costs, government sponsorship and visa charges, levies, and any fees charged by independent migration professionals. Costs depend on the pathway and circumstances.

Can we use our own migration agent or lawyer?

Yes. Employers can continue working with their preferred registered migration agent or Australian legal practitioner. emplora does not require you to change your professional adviser.

Can we hire more than one candidate?

Yes. Tell us the number of vacancies, roles and locations you need to fill. We can present suitable candidates as they become available, but volumes and timing cannot be guaranteed.

What happens after we submit an enquiry?

We will review your staffing requirements, clarify the roles and locations, and discuss available candidates and possible next steps. Submitting an enquiry does not create an obligation to hire or sponsor anyone.
